"Sacrifice for sacrifice. That's what bloodshed can do... Clean things."
Edward Damson, celebrated playwright, has just died. Philip, the son he never knew, has travelled to Greece, hoping to learn about the father he'd always worshipped from afar. But Edward's widow, Helen, is hiding a dark secret that could change everything Philip thought he know about his idol.
A play about playwrights and academics, about right and wrong, about justice and revenge - The Gift of the Gorgon takes us forwards and backwards in time, through Helen and Edward's relationship, Cromwell, Byzantium, and Greek mythology, as it explores the terrible power of theatre and the destructiveness of vengeful love.
